Enhanced external counterpulsation (EECP) treatment, an advanced , outpatient therapy for chronic stable angina, is now available at Olive Heart  & Diagnostics. This is an internationally recognized treatment approved by FDA and CE mark ( Europe).Multiple studies have shown that EECP consistently reduces anginal symptoms, improves exercise tolerance ,decreases requirement of anti anginals with significant improvement in QOL of patient with minimal side effects
How EECP Works?

Three sequential pneumatic cuffs are applied to patients legs that squeeze blood from legs towards heart in sync with every heart beat. This increases coronary blood flow ,causes coronary vasodilatation and increases collateral channels thereby improving angina The therapy can help people dealing with long-term symptoms of  angina that doesn’t respond to other treatments. It is also helpful for patients who have heart blockages and aren’t eligible for bypass surgery or stenting due to high operable risk  or have failed stenting or bypass therapy  and continue to have angina. Also patients  who do not want to go for stenting or bypass Surgery can opt for EECP.

How EECP Is Done At This centre

At Olive Heart & Diagnostics, we are a team of highly experienced, certified and licensed healthcare professionals, dedicated to serving you with the best. During the EECP therapy treatment, our staff will discuss everything related to the symptoms as well as other health conditions to provide the best results using EECP therapy.

During the treatment, patients will lie down on a treatment bed and a professional will apply BP cuff-like cuffs to the legs. ECG electrodes and Pulse Oximetry are used to monitor cardiac health along with Blood Pressure monitoring. The cuffs will start to compress the legs in synchronization with the patient’s own ECG, which results in increased blood supply to the heart. There are 35 total sessions of therapy oy 60 min duration daily and for patients coming from far off therapy can be given in twice daily sessions fro 18 days. Patients may feel fatigue initially after sessions that improves with further sessions.There are no major side effects and patients tolerate the therapy well.
